sit around boys and girls

todays topic is stupid people. i have a lot of work related "stupid people" stories to tell. i work in a amusement park (im not going to tell the name until im done for the season, people who know me, know where i work), and i have come to the conclusion that people lose all common sense when they come into the park. i worked as a host in theaters for two seasons and i can tell you that people can be unbelievably rude. last year i worked at this live stunt show, although the show was forgettable the things that happened to me and my coworkers there werent. this theater was more of an amphitheater, so it was outdoors. normally this venue was used for concerts (i worked at the concert last year for the plain white t's, i got to meet tom), but they decided to try something new and make it a live stunt show well the problem with that was it was an outdoor theater in chicago. where the weather is unpredictable. all the time. so on the days it rained, all of us had to go outside from our little break room trailer and tell people that the show(s) were canceled. and most of the time people weren't understanding at all they would say things like "are you kidding me? this is the fifth thing that's not working today! i want a refund this is ridiculous!" and i'll be thinking "good luck with that." since our park doesnt give any refunds. and when its not raining we have to close the bullpen (code for gathering area) which is made out of wooden and steel barricades five minutes after show starts. one of us has to be out there telling people to come to the next show. the following dialouge is a mix of things that have been said to either myself or another coworker in a number of events

"why cant we come in?, i was just right there getting some food and now your gonna close the gate on me?"

then i say "its a rule in all of our theaters."

"are you kidding me?! oh my god this is ridiculous! how long has it been anyways five minutes?"

"ten"

"and you still can't let us in?"

"no, im sorry."

"why can't you let us in?"

"its distracting to the guests and the actors on stage"

*cue the park photographers*

"can i get in?"

"yeah"

"oh wait a minute. they can get in by we can't? aren't they gonna distract the audience and actors on stage?"

"they are gonna be set off to the side"

"im going to customer service to report this, this is ridiculous!"

"okay then"

that was a little piece of what me and my coworkers went through last year. one of my coworkers had a guy ask her to watch his child for him while he had to go to the bathroom or something like that.

work is stupid, but the people i work with (well most people) are pretty cool. its just the job. if i end up working there next year it will be because i couldnt find a job anywhere else. this job is a love hate relationship. but i learned a crap load of stuff and i will be set if i get an interview for a job anywhere else. i developed my people skills through this job and im much more talkative then i used to be. truth is that towards the end of the season i am at my wits end with people and so are my coworkers.

so after my season is done i'll blog about what kinda things that went down this season, i'll tell you one thing: five people from our unit got fired.

first off that venue use to be used for stunt shows like the batman one or the wild west one it was not designed for concerts.
